Another Boston rumor just came up. Last week it was Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo for Leandro Barbosa and Amare Stoudemire. That doesn't make any sense. The next one that doesn't make any sense? Boston is interested in acquiring the #2 pick.
They do know who's in this draft, right?
On the off chance they do, they must be looking to extend and trade Rondo. Fine, but then you'd be giving up on Conley if you're Memphis. Is Rondo better? Yes. Are the Grizzlies giving up on Conley? No.
Here's what I thought. The Grizzlies need size. They already have a starting 5. There's no way in hell Boston's giving up KG.
So it'll have to be a 3 way trade.
What I've seen happen in a lot of scenarios has been: Ray Allen and Kendrick Perkins for Shaquille O'Neal. I once had a dream that Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O'Neal all played for the Sonics. That dream will never happen. But for the Celtics, two out of three ain't bad. At the 2, you could certainly procure Ben Gordon at a reasonable price.
Some more strange things: Reggie Evans is headed to Toronto, and Jason Kapono is headed to Philadelphia. This makes Philadelphia even more dangerous, as its shooting capacity is weak. I know where Toronto's going. Andrea Bargnani is leaving Canada. Quote, the Raptors have "too many finesse players." In terms of big men, Bargnani fits that bill well. I think Bosh is looking not for a Jermaine O'Neal, but for...a Shaquille O'Neal.
Here's the truth. I could fix the Suns in three moves. Just three.
Step 1: Allen and Perkins for Shaq.
Step 2: Nash for Calderon, Bargnani and Ukic.
Step 3: Richardson for Kirilenko.

Suns
PG Calderon/Collison (sue me for being a little more keen on defense than Kerr)
SG Allen/Barbosa
SF Kirilenko/Barnes
PF Stoudemire/Amundson
C Perkins/Lopez
The 10 roles, which I will explain in a minute, have been fulfilled. Liftoff to championship. The hopelessly unsalvageable Suns can be salvaged.
